Certified for compliance with Class ISS requirements for cask internals for the first time everGNS has earned the “Certificate of Authorisation N3” from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) after successfully undergoing a rigorous survey. 

GNS supplies twelve transport and storage casks of the type CASTOR® V/19 for the spent fuel from the German NPPs Brokdorf and Grohnde.

GNS supplies 47 transport and storage casks of the type CASTOR® V/52 to the German NPP Gundremmingen for the complete spent fuel removal.

On 17 January 2019, the German Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (Bundesamt für kerntechnische Entsorgungssicherheit/BfE) issued the package design approval certificate for the transport and storage cask CASTOR® MTR3 as type B(U)F packaging. The cask was developed by GNS especially for spent fuel elements from research reactors.
