GNS handed over its interim storage activities to the German Federation as of 1st August 2017. GNS and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) had signed the purchase contract on 24th July 2017 for the BGZ Gesellschaft für Zwischenlagerung mbH, Essen founded specifically for this purpose by GNS. Today, 1st August 2017, the nuclear licences for the new company were also granted alongside entry in the commercial register.

GNS Gesellschaft für Nuklear-Service mbH and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) have reached an agreement on transferring GNS's interim storage activities.

Radioactive Waste Management Ltd., the NDA’s subsidiary in charge of preparing for disposal of intermediate and high level waste in the planned geological disposal facility (GDF), has issued a “final stage Letter of Compliance” for intermediate level waste resins packaged into 55 GNS MOSAIK® casks in 2013 and 2014.

GNS Gesellschaft für Nuklear-Service mbH and Kernkraftwerk Gösgen-Däniken AG have signed a contract for the development and manufacturing of transport and storage casks of the type CASTOR® geo32CH and associated equipment.
